Football And Its Roots In America

Baseball used to be the most popular sport in America, but today it’s football. Do people talk about baseball when it’s out of season? Not often. However, people always talk about football regardless of the time of year. The reason the game of football surpassed baseball is because of speed. Baseball was the most popular sport in America when things moved at a different pace. The population was much lower, which led to a more laid-back pace, and there were no cell phones or internet. Today, people want results right away. This also pertains to sports. Football can certainly deliver fast results. It’s a game that moves at a breakneck speed, especially during the two-minute drill.

Two other examples of how popular football is compared to baseball are television ratings and parties. When it comes to television ratings, no program in the world comes even remotely close to the Super Bowl. As far as parties are concerned, people often host when football is on. This almost never happens for baseball games these days. There was once a time when people would miss work and school to watch a baseball game. Those days are long gone. Football has moved into first place and it’s here to stay. Sorry, baseball.
